An old Hunter stove has been replaced with one of the newer efficient stoves now on the market, the Parkray Consort 7. This brilliant new technology in the Consort 7 works in two ways: firstly, a ‘recouper’ and internal lining ensure that heat stays inside the stove, being directed outwards rather than upwards. Secondly, unburned gases are reignited inside the stove, so that there’s less to go up the chimney.Â

Dik Geurts Aste 5 Low in a Winterfold Timber Mantle, made to measure with Cambridge Clay painted finish and honed black granite. What a picture, it looks like it was produced for a stove catalogue! The Aste 5 Low is a versatile stove with an option of a rear heat shield allowing it to be positioned closer to a flammable wall. It has a large viewing window and can be freestanding or installed into a fireplace opening, as shown here. With a heat output of 4.9 kW, it can easily heat a large room, but its low emissions qualify it for DEFRA approval in smokeless zones.
